Size (of the AI Prompt) Does Matter

In the context of ChatGPT searches, AI prompts are the initial inputs or queries that guide the AI’s response. They serve as the starting point for the AI to generate relevant and useful information.

The need for detailed prompts cannot be overstated, especially in the realm of travel-related searches. A detailed prompt provides a clear direction for the AI, ensuring that the generated content is specific, relevant, and valuable. For instance, instead of asking “What’s the weather like?”, a more detailed prompt would be “What’s the weather like in Cape Town, South Africa, in December?” This level of detail allows the AI prompt to provide a more accurate and useful response.

Conversely, bad prompts are typically too short or too vague. They lack the necessary detail for the AI to generate a meaningful response. For example, a prompt such as “Tell me about Paris” is too broad. The AI could interpret this in numerous ways – are you asking about the history of Paris, its tourist attractions, its cuisine, or its climate? Without specific details, the AI prompt’s response may not meet your needs.

To maximize the effectiveness of your travel-related searches, consider using detailed prompts like the following:

Good

      1. “What are the top 5 family-friendly tourist attractions in Sydney, Australia?”

      1. “Provide a 7-day itinerary for a culinary tour in Naples, Italy, including recommended restaurants and dishes.”

      1. “What are the visa requirements for a US citizen traveling to Vietnam for two weeks?”

      1. “Compare the costs and benefits of train travel versus car rental for a trip from Madrid to Barcelona.”

      1. “What are some off-the-beaten-path destinations in Japan for nature lovers?”

    Better

        1. “What are the COVID-19 travel restrictions and quarantine rules for a British citizen traveling to Japan in January 2024?”

        1. “Find me a 10-day luxury cruise in the Mediterranean that includes stops in Santorini, Mykonos, and Crete, departing in June 2024.”

        1. “What are the top-rated vegan-friendly restaurants in San Francisco with outdoor seating and a view of the Golden Gate Bridge?”

        1. “Find me a round-trip business class flight from Sydney to New York, departing on July 1, 2024, and returning on July 14, 2024, on Qantas Airways.”

        1. “What are some eco-friendly hotels in Costa Rica that offer yoga retreats and are located near a rainforest?”

      Even Better

          1. “Find me a 14-day guided tour in Peru that includes a visit to Machu Picchu, a homestay in a local village in the Sacred Valley, and a culinary experience in Lima, suitable for a family with children aged 10 and 12.”

          1. “What are the top-rated luxury safari lodges in the Serengeti, Tanzania, that offer family-friendly activities, have a sustainable tourism policy, and are available for booking in August 2024?”

          1. “Find me a direct flight from Toronto, Canada, to Queenstown, New Zealand, departing on December 15, 2024, returning on January 15, 2025, with a maximum budget of $2000 CAD.”

          1. “What are some all-inclusive resorts in the Maldives that offer overwater bungalows, have a 5-star rating, provide scuba diving lessons, and cater to dietary restrictions such as gluten-free and vegan?”

          1. “Provide a detailed itinerary for a 7-day road trip along the Amalfi Coast in Italy, including recommended stops, accommodations, and local cuisines to try.”

These prompts are extremely detailed and specific, allowing the AI to provide highly tailored and precise responses.

        AI Generated Image Prompts

Don’t even get me started on prompts for AI generated images, they are even more complicated. The featured image on this post is my nascent attempt at one but I’ll leave it to other experts to take it from here.

        Happy searching everyone!
